Gabe Babare, BA (Psychology), BSc (hons), BTh
Gabe has been working with Cornerstone since early 2016 but came on staff in November 2016. Gabe is an Australian who has been practising as a psychologist for over 14 years. He has worked in public mental health and has had his own practice for the past 9 years. Prior to his study and registration in psychology he was a pastor within Churches of Christ (Australia) for 10 years. He has also worked in foster care and began his working career serving in the Royal Australian Air Force.
He and his wife live on the coast of Queensland, Australia and enjoy being near the ocean. They have 2 adult children living and working in other parts of Australia.
Gabe’s primary interest is working with trauma in its various manifestations and has completed study in Australia and Jerusalem regarding PTSD. He has been trained in the two therapies recognised by the World Health Organisation for trauma. His primary training has been with Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). He has also found benefits from adapting EMDR to work with a number of other issues. For 9 years he was also working in a public mental health setting and has experience in working with the whole cross section of mental health issues from the mild to the highly disruptive.
